Oh, I know what you mean! I ordered my bulbs online, so I'm still waiting for them to come in. I told myself not to get carried away this year, but when I saw all the beautiful photos in the catalog, I just couldn't resist. I know as I get to the end of planting them, that I will be searching for any available spot to plant mine, too:)
I'm glad you know Rembrandt tulips, Janneke, these are new to me. I liked 2 varieties of tulips and more other Dutch bulbs. I know they are in good condition.
Perhaps you have many wild flowers in bloom in spring, Anne. In my place only one color is vernal, it's green (oh, and dandelions) It's a treat to me to see colorful beds in spring.

Last winter's frost killed practically all the newly planted bulbs. Only some tulips that had stayed in the ground all year survived, but didn't look very happy. Have a lovely weekend! Yes, the problem of frosty winter is here too Sara. Last winter my hyacinths did not survived as well. I decided to cover all new plantings with mulch and soil.
I LOVE spring bulbs but am surrounded by an army of chipmunks and squirrels. Every time I get the urge to try again, they eat them all. So, I've thrown in the towel and just enjoy those planted by others.
Planting bulbs in the fall is an act of faith that spring will come, the days become longer. I've purchased a few tulips but may get a few more bulbs for spring. You made some lovely choices and will certainly find space for them.

Oh, buying bulbs is so exciting! Buying is easy, finding a right place is hard! I happened to stop in Shiphol Airport in Amsterdam on my way home and I just had to buy some tulips - so I bought a packet of viridaflora tulips. And I have ordered some reticulata irises from UK.
Heh - I bought some rockery bulbs by myself (most had position or at least idea where to plant them previously), but then my boss did me present and I got 60 (6x10) bulbs of big tulips. Well, nothing helped - I had to do brand new flowerbed. :D
