It is winter outside, rain, snow, dark days and low temperatures. My wax begonia blooms on the living room windowsill despite the weather. I think it liked in my house. In September I had potted begonia and transported to the city home.
Now the wax begonia pleases me with its small red flowers that open almost every two days. I also love fresh and green foliage of begonia, flowers resemble butterflies perched on bright green leaves.
I've cut a few begonia cuttings to root new plants for next summer. Do you love this plant? Have you ever grown wax begonia in your garden or on your balcony?
Your photos of Begonia semperflorens are beautiful. I have never grown it in my garden, but this summer I will. I simply forget them in spring because it is so many other plants who gets the attention during that period. I will rembember them this year! Hugs
Jenny, I've seen many parks (for example Mirabel Garden in Salzburg, King garden in Prague) where Begonia semperflorens have been used as the principal plant for park decoration. Its small but numerous flowers of various colours look well in ornaments.
Hello Nadezda, "wax begonia" was a new term for me. Yours looks very familiar and Begonia semperflorens should be what we call "summer begonia". We grow them in pots (for summer). Nadezda, we have so often had Begonia semperflorens in the garden. I have never heard of them being called wax begonia, but can understand why. How great to use them as a houseplant for Winter. Hope you are keeping well.
Alistair, Begonia semperflorens has many common names, as summer begonia, ever-blooming begonia , etc. I'm glad having it inside for winter, later in spring will transport it to my garden.

Marit, this begonia semperflorens does not get any attention in summer. It's very simple in growth plant.
