Clivia Has Bloomed

When Clivia begins to bloom this means that spring is coming. Warm days will come soon and the snow will melt.

This makes me to look more often at catalogs of flowers and seeds, choose new varieties for tubs and hanging pots.
I also want to grow new varieties of tomatoes and peppers, a lot of greens for salad.
These plans appeared when Clivia had bloomed.

What are your plans for spring?

  2. I can sense the anticipation in your words. The lovely Clivia is doing well inside. You will be glad to welcome Spring and all that it means.
It's warm and humid here. The rain has come to much of the bush fire areas. Hopefully enough to quench most of the fires. Now there is serious flooding in Queensland and New South Wales! That's Australia!
    Keep well, Nadezda.

    1. Finally the fires finished Betty. I'd often seen news about Australia, it was terrible. Now is flooding :-( Wish you quiet winter.

  5. My Dear, your Clivia has flourished wonderfully. I already miss spring so much, sunny and green. That is why I bought a lot of flowers in pots at home to improve my mood and make the wait for this wonderful season more pleasant. I will present a collection of these plants in a post at the end of the month of February.
    Have a nice Sunday.

  7. My clivia flowers have gone over now. I guess we will have a busy spring trying to catch up - that is if the soil ever dries out enough.

  11. Wonderful, happy flowers and photos!
The days are already longer, but we start to wait for spring only next month. The weather has been incredibly strange, the temperature is above zero also now, but we may have still weeks of cold weather coming before spring arrives.
    Wishing you sunny days!

  19. Your Clivia blooms are so beautiful and I also love the photo of the sweet bird. There are signs of spring here as well as hyacinths and crocus slowly emerge from the ground. It has been one of the mildest winters here in years and I think this is the earliest I have seen these bulbs coming up. Hopefully March won't bring any surprises, as it is an unpredictable month. Keep enjoying your blooms with thoughts of spring!

    1. I suppose this winter was the mildest here as well, Lee. My lawn has been green during the winter, there is no snow. I agree March may bring us surprises but I hope spring is coming soon.

  20. What a lovely flower! My plans for spring were to have a great variety of different spring bulbs on the balcony. However, winter has been so warm in London that many of the bulbs are coming out already - crocus tricolour is almost over, and also some of the early daffodils, and even some very pretty red tulips.... but the worst thing is that a grey squirrel has discovered how to get on the balcony and is digging them all up and destroying them. I think it's very hard to get rid of squirrels. We're trying all kinds of things, deterrent sprays don't work, it seems. Chicken wire round the drainpipes just encouraged them to climb up neighbouring drainpipes and leap from balcony to balcony until they reach ours. They're clever creatures.

    1. Oh what a problem, Jenny. It’s a pity that your balcony has become an interesting subject for these creatures. Unlike others, I do not like squirrels, I think they are rats with a fluffy tail. The behavior of both squirrels and rats is similar, smart beasts, they even have muzzles similar. Hope your other balcony plants are safe and grow well.

  21. Nadezda - My clivia bloomed early, too. I have only one but it bloomed twice just a few months apart. The first blooming had a seed head but it withered away which made me wonder if it was sterile. I haven't gotten around to researching that. I also didn't get around to taking any photos. Good that you did!

Mine blooms before spring coming every year.
