We
are in summer, it's hot.
Rains
are warm. Mushrooms
grow. In
the river they say, fish is caught well.
A
company of gardeners decided to walk into the woods and the river. I
was also invited. The stroll wasn't far of the gardens, 5-7 km.
We
left early and were on the river before noon. The day was great, not very hot, with
light clouds, and wasn't rain forecast.
The
river is not wide but has strong flowing and some places of
whirlpools, the water was of tea color due to turf.
Fishermen began catching fish and I went to look at the
river and to pick up mushrooms.A
dry swamp overgrown with young pine trees was near the river
bank. Everywhere in the forest large granite boulders covered with
moss could be found. This is a reminder of a glacier passed here many
centuries ago.
I
went on, the forest was clear transparent resinous of pines.
Reddish-brown pine trunks seemed theatrical scenery in the sunshine.
Nature has its own unique theater.
I climbed the hill and have seen low blueberries bushes growing between pines. Blueberry was sweet and juicy. To pick up berries it's necessary to bend, oh!
Between pines in the moss under dry branches, fallen leaves mushrooms had grown. There were chanterelles. They are considered as the most environmentally friendly mushrooms. Let's look closely: how many chanterelles have been there, they hid but were found and put in the basket.
At my summer cottage I cooked soup with chanterelles, potatoes and carrots and will soon cook a blueberry pie. What a wonderful summer!
Beautiful place! Such a very nice walking on a beautiful nature. Is the whole of the river have a tea color water? The water looks so clear. And the mushrooms are so interesting, a strange shape, I have never seen before. Thanks fir sharing
ReplyDeleteThis river water is brown due to the surface where it runs: it's turf, that is black-brown. But the water is very clean and transparent, the fishermen say the fish is tasty and healthy.
DeleteThank you for taking us on a beautiful summer stroll. I love those trees!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Keith!

ReplyDeleteThis soup was very soon over, Jason, sorry!
DeleteThank you!
Dear Nadezda, what a perfect place for a walk!!Lovely images of the river the forest and how lucky you are to make a soup from the forest mushrooms !
ReplyDeleteYou sure had a great time!!Wishing you a happy August!
Dimi...
Yes, I had Dimi, thank you!
DeleteLooks like a lovely place for a walk! I've never been mushroom hunting, but my husband used to go quite often. Around here the most common type of mushroom found in the wild is the morel. Hope you are having a wonderful summer!
ReplyDeleteYes I am, Rose. I know nothing about morel so I never hunt them in the woods. Thank you!
DeleteWhat a lovely spot to walk through. My kind of relaxation. The sound of water and birds. Everything green and growing. I always love wlaking in the woods and trails around my home and I feel so lucky to be living near them. Thanks for sharing your walk.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Lona! I love the sound of running water and birds singing as well.
DeleteWhat a beautiful and tranquil looking place, I can imagine that was a lovely walk. And you had a bonus on finding the mushrooms and blueberries too.
ReplyDeleteI love mushrooms and chanterelles are tasty and ecological friendly ones.
DeleteThank you, Paula!
These are very beautiful photgraphs and views, Nadi! I have to admit that they look completely like our nature. It proves how close we really are really! I have eaten fresh chanterelles picked by my self for couple of weeks now. I like a risotto with them! With white vine and parmesan cheese.
ReplyDeleteWe're neighbors Tistou, our nature is very similar. Nice recipe, will try to cook risotto with chanterelles!
DeleteThank you for showing us these beautiful pictures of your area. It looks a lot like COntario! However our blueberries are not so accommodating. They grow on low bushes but in British Columbia they have high blueberry bushes like yours.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've seen on one blog the Canadian blueberry bushes, they are high, Alain. However I have enough jars of blueberry jam and some of frozen blueberry. Sure the cup of tea with jam will be tasty in cold winter days. Thank you!
DeleteBeautiful pictures, Nadezda! We haven't been walking in the woods for a while, because it's so hot. We've just been in the garden. Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteHot weather is here as well Satu. But the river is cool and shadow in the woods is pleasant. Thank you!
DeleteWhat a beautiful walk in the woods and by the river! Right now the blackberries are ripe but I haven't been out to pick them yet this year, my garden is keeping me very busy. I like mushrooms but don't know wild ones well enough to not eat poison ones so I buy from people who know and sell them at farmers markets.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Peter, if you don't know wild mushroom so better is to leave them in a forest. The farmers sell edible mushroom, sure.
DeleteThank you!
Your images of beautiful summer scenes of peaceful water and green trees cheer me as we have cold days and nights. Your harvest of wild produce looks so good and make a delicious soup. I love blueberry jam and pies. Hope you enjoy many more days of a wonderful summer. I am looking for small signs of Spring:) Thank you for sharing all of this beauty.
ReplyDeleteKind regards,
Betty
Spring comes in next month in your place Betty. Glad you'll have green leaves and spring flowers, rhododendron in bloom.
DeleteNice season, love spring after long cold winter. This harvest from my own garden is a pleasure especially when I do cooking with berries for Christmas. Thank you!
We're lucky if we find a mushroom here ;) The woods aren't large here and noone picks mushrooms, same with berries:( It does sound wonderful to take a walk and while on it pick some fresh berries or mushrooms, makes me think of fairytales somehow.... Your forest looks so very enchanting.... I do wish I lived in a place where there is more natural beauty with forests that can be called forests. Enjoy your wonderful summer Nadezda! No need to go on vacation somewhere, you can have a lovely vacation right at home. Isn't that the best of all?
ReplyDeleteMarian
Yes it is! So do I Marian! This summer is hot and not rainy, I spend nice time here with my flowers, berries, veggies, walking to the wood and by the river. Wish you happy days in your garden!
DeleteWhat a delightful forest walk. I always love to forage but didn't know you could pick wild blueberries. What a treat! Your summer sounds beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does Juliet!
DeleteThank you!
Beautiful nature which brings peace of mind... Thanks for sharing, Nadezda! It is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Yang Saya Suka!
DeleteWelcome Nadezhda!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and comment.
I am very happy that you remembered me.
I love the forest. I love to collect mushrooms and berries.
This year, there were berries. I hope that in September will be mushrooms.
Nadezda, I love these posts showing the beauty of nature.
Greetings.
Lucia
Sure you will hunt a lot of mushrooms, Lucja. Glad you're back with us!
Russia is so beautiful in the summer! I don't pick mushrooms in the woods because the ones that grow here are poisonous. I have blueberry bushes in my garden but the birds eat them before I can. :o)
ReplyDeleteThe blueberry bushes are enough low here and birds eat other berries that grow higher in the woods Tammy. I think the small animals as mice, hares etc. eat blueberries as well. Thank you!
DeleteHello Nadezda! You are so lucky to have this beautiful running water nearby, I wish I had the same. I would love to pick wild mushrooms but first I must find someone to show me which ones are safe to eat :) Your forest photos are magical and you are right, it is like a theatre!
ReplyDeleteThe mushroom I pick up are safe to eat, and if I don't know what the mushroom is so I do not pick it up, you're right Rosemary.
DeleteI like this pine tree forest, is clear and joyful.
Thank you!
We do not have wild blueberries near us but we do have the Georgia “muscadine” which is a big berry like grape. In my yard suddenly appeared some mushrooms but I do not know what type they are so I did not pick them up, I’ll place a photo of them in my next post and maybe you will recognize them. Your forest is lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's interesting Vagabonde! Suddenly the mushrooms grew in your backyard! I'd like to see your photos, may be they are edible..
DeleteThank you!
Absolutely beautiful! And the soup looks so delicious. I can almost smell it. What's happened to the Russian version of your blog, Nadezhda? Google can't find it...
ReplyDeleteYes, Tania, soup was very delicious, it's a pity it finished fast:)
