Now the night temperature is above +4 C (40 F), soil is soft and I can dig and plant flowers and veggie seedlings. They are completely ready to be planted and to rooting in the soil, but still are potted in the city.
As I have before told I purchased 4 clematises to plant instead the dead ones. They are well, started to bloom in blue and red on my living room windowsill and will continue flowering on the garden trellises. The royal and zonal pelargonium cuttings and impatiens rooted up well, I want to plant them in hanging baskets.
I'm very glad that fuchsia, begonia and dahlia tubers overwintered well and I'm hoping that during the transportation the plants will not be damaged. The begonia and dahlia sprouted leaves, got bigger and taller.
Tonight I'll pack my 'treasures', tomorrow will be hard day, moving is not an easy thing in a car trunk. Hoping all will be OK. The spring is very late here, my plants are waiting for warmth in the garden, as I am. I think the climate changes, what do you think?

DeleteThe weather is changing dramatically from year year. I'm not sure where we are headed, but I don't think we'll see a 'normal' year again. Where do you move your plants to? I bought two new Clematis this year as well, but only one is doing well. The other one looks like it may not make it. My Dahlia tubers don't look like they made it either. :-( I have bought some annuals, but since it is still too cold to plant them, I have a tiny little portable greenhouse that I'll store them in until the temperatures level out for good.Enjoy your gardening season. :-) I sincerely wish Wordpress and Blogspot would cooperate so I could get notice of your new posts. I have other blogging friends on Blogspot, and I have the same challenge with their posts as well.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Judy, the climate is changing. I move my new flowers and seedlings to my summer cottage not far from St. Petersburg. I usually store some tender plants as pelargonium, dahlias, begonias, canna, calla, gladioli, all winter at home in the city. In spring these plants and annuals seedlings move to the garden. This is hard work :-( Now the weather is not warm enough so I want to put them all in my greenhouse.

Your seedlings all look so healthy and happy! I didn't start any seeds indoors this year, so now I have to buy everything instead. We had a warm spring, but now we have had so much rain that I can't even work in the garden--just when I should be!

I love that you are planting more clematis .. mine are growing like weeds even in this weather .. in fact they have shocked me.
I have bought a new one called"Fujimusume" .. it is an amazing blue so I am hoping for a pretty show of it.

I guess maximum 16C is not cold to you :) Autumn has been a mixture of some sunny and some cloudy and some wet days. Just reminds me that it will soon be winter. I would be like a block of ice in the winter of St.Petersburg!
