There are a lot of things to recollect the summer -18. It was hot, sunny, with rare rains, plentiful in flowers, greenness, fruit. There were days of travel on the Baltic sea and even weeks of Admiral butterfly invasion in my garden.
Lots of impressions of the visits to parks, museums, cities, discovering a something new.
Crab-apple trees, canna, roses, the garden after the rain, rainbow, bee houses, my new greenhouse, a joy of the fine weather in our Northern area. This summer was really nice after the wet, cold, rainy summers of previous years.
Buenos recuerdos te ha dejado el verano amiga, has tenido mucha variación y buenas fotos. Aquí el frío este año nos llegó de golpe y a final de octubre cayó una buena nevada que por suerte desapareció rápido. Ahora es tiempo de setas.

DeleteYou obviously had a wonderful summer, Nadezda, and we did too. The weather was quite pleasant most of the time, and we enjoyed a wonderful trip to Gaspé on the Atlantic coast of Québec.

ReplyDeleteAlso here the weather was very good. Both the summer and autumn were so sunny and warm that I feel it happens only once in a lifetime. For many plants it was even too sunny.
Your carrot cream soup sounds very tasty. It came to my mind now that I don't know what kind of bread is popular in your area. Must google now...

I agree, the summer like the past one was pretty unusual in good sense:-) Hope it won't be an exception.
DeleteSara, I think our culinary cultures are very close so the kinds of bread that we eat are similar. Actually I love rye bread with soup and wheat bread for sandwiches with cheese or meat.
Many beautiful summer memories from your garden, Nadezda! We had a hot and dry summer which I enjoyed but in August, we also had a lot of smoke in the air from forest fires and that was no fun.
ReplyDeletePeter, the forest fires were a great problem in many places of the world this summer. And I can imagine how you felt in August, breathing smoke. Hopefully that fires passed and this fall is beautiful especially on your photos.

Lucja, I'm very pleased my greenhouse. It turned out very warm and even hot one that was great for veggies; cucumbers (I've made many jars with marinated cucumbers), lettuce, parsley, celery, basil, coriander. I've grown some flower cuttings there as well.

Nadezda -- Your cannas were beautiful and I am envious of the Admiral butterfly. Were those cone things made out of straw the bee houses? How many languages do you speak? Russian, English, Spanish ... I tried to learn French. My inability to speak anything but English is why I am currently watching Seyit and Sura with subtitles. It's on Netflix (a subscription TV and movie service). Wonderful story. Just as good, if not better than Downton Abbey.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen those straw bee houses -- I learn something new on blogs all the time! Thanks for telling me Seyit and Sura is in Turkish. I'm on episode 22, I think. I watch several episodes everyday. I'm hooked on it! It's not really a movie. More like a soap opera with about 40 episodes.
DeleteThese straw bee houses I saw in Scansen museum and want to do the same ones for my garden, because many pollinates are there in summer. I learned English and Spanish. The movie Seyit and Sura is in Turkish, I'd watched it with subtitles as well :-) It's a pity I've not seen this movie.

Dear Betty, you're right. November is a month of relaxation, if the snow hasn't yet fallen. If snow fall I have to warmer cover my tender plants, but it's a work for 2 days, no more. I have a dream to enlarge the garden, making plans where and what to plant next spring.
DeleteTill now the weather is too mild, I can spend 2-3 hours in the garden, bathing in low sun rays.

DeleteOh, you're right: spring, summer and warm autumn days always fly away very quickly. The cold winter months last a long time but there is a great holiday - Christmas that brings us joy and peace.
It reads like you had the perfect summer. I like the idea of putting roofing over those nice bee skeps. It would certainly make them last longer. Our summer was hot, dry and mostly annoying. It certainly is making me appreciate the rain and cooler weather of autumn.

Lovely photos, Nadezda! Summer seems like a distant memory to me now. This morning it is 18 degrees here (-7C, I think), which is a record low for this day. I wish autumn had lasted longer!
