After Heavy Rain

In the previous days the weather was very hot and I was waiting for rain. And the other day I woke up at 3 am by thunder. I got up and went to the window. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled as if directly over the roof of the country cottage. Heavy rain poured right through the window. I immediately closed the window because I am very afraid of lightning.

Then I fell asleep again and got up as usual at 7 am. The air was fresh and clean, and there were drops of rain on the grass and plants. I brewed coffee, added milk to the cup, and went to the garden with a cup of coffee. I drank coffee and looked at the plants. Why not take pictures of the plants after a heavy rain?

Campanula medium and Pelargoniums

Poor white peonies

My veggies in raised beds, lettuce and parsley

Roses withstood heavy rain well

In the afternoon, the sun again heated the air to +26 C and I moved into the shade of the gazebo with my armchair. The forecast does not promise heavy rains in the coming days. It's good that the tanks were filled to the brim with rain water.

  1. Hi Nadezda,

You are lucky who got rain. Here it's very dry. Your flowers looks great after the rain. I don't like lighning either. Your roses are very pretty.

  2. Good thing it rained there. Here we also expect water rain. The ground is really dry. Do you collect rainwater in barrels? We have always collected. It is an important aid in watering garden plants.

  3. Not only was the rain good for the garden, it probably worked wonders on your mental state too, Nadezda. And it's great to have the rain barrels filled to the brim.

    1. Yes, you're right, David. Rain barrels are emptied quickly if it rains infrequently.

  6. Hello Nadezda ! I understand your feelings about thunder storms .. they make me feel on edge too. Ontario has had a few weird tornados and they are usually spurred on by sudden intense thunder storms .. yes most times the air can be cleared up with one weather front moving out for the other .. and other times it just gets hotter and more humid. Your roses look great from the rain ! My rain barrel has been filled as well so I am happy with that too.

    1. Joy, here, after a thunderstorm and rain, the weather is as hot and dry as before. What a pity! I want cool weather and rain. There is a full water barrel in your garden due to thunderstorms. It's good.

  7. О, rain water! I remember, my grandma was collecting it exclusively for washing her hair. She was sure that after that the hair was soft and shiny. When we were visiting her I couldn’t get why I cannot wash my hair in the bathtub, where water was already hot and running out of faucet....
And you’re collecting rain water in barrels for plants, are you?

    1. Dear Irina, when your grandmother did this, the climate was different, the air was cleaner than now. The rainwater was soft (and still is). I think the bathtub water had a high percentage of lime in it.

  8. How great for you to get rain - even if there was thunder and lightning. It is so much easier and better for the garden than four watering.
The flowers with raindrops are beautiful.
    Best regards Lisbeth
