Such beauty in my garden from the end of May to the middle of June every year! I never get tired of admiring the flowering of my rhododendrons. They are already 10-12 years old and every year there are more and more of their flowers. These are evergreen rhododendrons and deciduous azaleas. All varieties are bred in Finland, in the Mustila nursery. A few years ago I was in this nursery and saw a variety of plants. They do a great job in the nursery. All the plants I have purchased are hardy in my 5a zone.
I care for and treat my plants, I always carefully examine them, especially after flowering is over. After the faded flowers, young leaves appear, which should be healthy. I always remove faded flowers. In autumn, I sprinkle acidic fertilizers, potassium and phosphorus under the roots of plants, I water very often before the onset of winter. Sometimes rain helps me with watering :)

DeleteYou have so many beautiful rhododendrons, Nadezda. I have many of them too, and I dont do very much work with them than what you do. I give them fertililizer, and remove dead flowers and a lot of water. It's very dry here right now.

DeleteQue preciosidad de flores y colores amiga están preciosos. Por aquí ahora parece que el tiempo quiere cambiar. Esperemos que sí porque hace días nos cayó una tremenda granizada, menos mal que fue solo en Béjar, el huerto está a 6 km y allí no cayó porque lo hubiera destrozado. Si que tenemos lluvia todas las tardes, el tiempo está loco.

ReplyDeleteEn una ocasión sembré en el patio trasero de mi casa que es donde menos sol da durante el día, varias plantas de rododendros, pero no soportaron las temperaturas primaverales de Andalucía, donde hay días que se superan los 30 o 35º C. y las tuve que quitar, y plantar autóctonas de la zona, que aguantan perfectamente tan altas temperaturas.

Lamentablemente, Maniel, los rododendros son plantas de clima templado. Las temperaturas de 20-25C en primavera y hasta -30C en invierno son adecuadas para ellos. Lástima que tus plantas no sobrevivieron.
