Sweeter
than a violet bed!
Why
they smell so sweet, and why
They
bloom on when others die?
“By the pixies’
magic power
Do my
tulips always flower,
By the pixies’ magic
spell
Do
they give so sweet a smell!
Tulips,
tulips, red and white,
Fill
the pixies with delight!

ReplyDeleteAstrid
Thank you, Astrid! I'm enjoying every flower in my spring garden.
DeleteBeautiful bright tulips! I love those reddish orange ones. And what a wonderful garden poem - I had never heard of it before!
ReplyDeleteSo hadn't I! I had looked for any nice poem about tulips and found this one written in 1914, that I liked. I'm glad you liked it too.
DeleteAmazing colours and beautiful tulips, I must plant some for next year!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Peter! Yes, tulips decorate very much any garden in spring.
DeleteHallo Nadezda,
ReplyDeleteI am pleased to see your tulips are bringing you flowers. In my garden, in the land where most of the tulips are comings from, only 3 tulips brought me flowers the rest of the bust dryed up.
Have a nice evening Nadezda
Thank you, Marijke for reading and watching my photos! I hope your another flowers will bloom long time. Happy spring!

DeleteHello Nadezda !
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog so often .. I am terrible at getting back to other bloggers because this is the busiest time of year for our gardens here in Ontario ... I feel like I never stop! .. Your tulips are beautiful!! and I love those little figures : )
There is something very special about that tulip scent .. I love them !
My favorite are "Ballerina" tulips they last so long and look so elegant.
Yours are so pretty with the light filtering through them and the verses are perfect with them .. it all made me smile : )
Joy
Joy, thank you, this poem made me smile too. I love often read your blog. Happy spring!
DeleteSuch pretty images and they work so well with the poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hilary! I tried to find the poem to my pictures, although this poem had been written in the past century.
DeletePretty pictures of gorgeous tulips. I love tulips, but mine never smell sweetly. In fact, they don't smell at all.
ReplyDeleteFrico, I think some varieties of tulips have fragrance. But perhaps the smell of tulips is an artistic exaggeration in this poem.
