My Maple, picture of the Day

My favorite maple is v. Acer palmatum
I was glad that my favorite maple survived the winter well.
Its frosted branches started to grow in the spring.
Now there are new leaves, young leaves are red,  then the leaves become bronze-green.

  3. Really nice pictures, Nadezda! Winter is tough on these Maples here as well. I was heartbroken last year to lose one that I had nurtured for a several years. Its death was mysterious as that winter was no more harsh than any other. I have three Maples at the moment and love the hint of burgundy they add to the garden.

    1. Jennifer, you understand me well! I had nurtured my maple, too. Every October I cover it in special cloth, bend it to the ground, and the maple spends the winter under a layer of snow.

  4. Beautiful leaves! I love Japanese maples too. Not all are winter-hardy enough to survive where I live, but I want to try growing one of the tougher ones. It is worth working extra hard to take care of these beauties!

    1. Yes, the pond is a place where I can take a sit and relax watching the maple and water lilies.
