If you visit the Regent's Park in London you will surely come to the Queen Mary’s Gardens. Looking at the map of the Regent's Park I immediately found the Queen Mary’s Gardens in the Inner circle and went there. I was hoping to see blooming roses in mid-September. And my hope was fulfilled.
Having
passed through the beautiful forged and gilded gates I faced figure
of a gardener made by plants.
Some words about this rose garden creation. Queen Mary’s Garden was named after the wife of King George V. In 1932 rose garden was opened to the public, the collection of roses was completed by 1934. Now the rose garden is London's largest collection with approximately 12,000 roses planted within the gardens.
There are 85 single variety beds on display, including famous ‘Royal Parks’ rose, the classic and the modern English roses.
It was my delightful experience of visiting Queen Mary‘s Gardens, the view and scent of roses was looking spectacular.
Many benches are available for visitors so I decided to sit and enjoy the garden. Shrubs and flowers are located around to add a sense of privacy to the gardens.
I was very glad that I could visit this wonderful rose garden and tried to take more pictures to show you its beauty. Many visitors looked at roses and talked about their own roses. I've been thinking it's very important for gardeners to share their experiences and to choose a favorite variety for their garden. I also chose the favorite rose for my garden: it's "Double Delight" variety.
What color of roses do you prefer? If you decided to plant a rose would you choose classic or modern variety?
What a truly incredible garden. I cannot even imagine all the care that goes into keeping it growing so perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI agree Donna, it's a big work taking care of all these plants.
DeleteI had some difficulty accessing your blog, I think there was a problem, but I'm glad it is OK now. The rose garden at Regents Park keeps beautiful for a lot of the summer but it is particularly beautiful in June which is the height of the rose season. Did you go to the English garden, reconstructed about 25 years ago after the 19th century designs? It's taken a long time for it to become established but now it is really delightful and has different bedding schemes throughout the year. I'm thinking of posting about it in my next post, which is now overdue on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your photos. I do love all flowers but I think roses are my favourites.
Can't wait for reading your new post Jenny! I'm glad you liked my photos. Thank you!
DeleteNadezda, this is a very beautiful garden ! It would be wonderful to visit this place. I love red roses !
ReplyDeleteReally great pictures ! Greetings :)
Sure you would spent wonderful time in this garden, Ela!
DeleteLovely post Nadezda and beautiful photo. I haven't been to regents Park for years and this has made me want to re visit. I've been out of the blogging link for a while now and have missed keeping in touch. Hopefully I'll get the motivation to start blogging again soon.

Glad you're here with us, as always. Sure you should start to continue your blog!
DeleteThat's a wonderful place. Such a very interesting place to be visited. How lucky you are. I love roses so much. The Double Delight is catching my heart.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
Double Delight is very pretty rose, but I doubt if it's hardy.
DeleteThank you Endah!
Ahh, so many lovely roses! I haven’t been to Queen Mary’s Gardens, there are many parks and gardens in London I haven’t been to, even though I live here. I’m not sure I have a rose colour I prefer, but I know one I don’t like; lilac. For me that’s not a ‘rose colour’. And I love both classic and modern roses, they grow side by side in my garden :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the lovely photos from your trip, I am sure the rose garden was a big inspiration.
Have a great week-end.
You're right Helene, I love soft colors of roses as well. But there are roses for all tastes. I spent there nice time, sitting and looking at the roses. Thank you!
DeleteSuch a beautiful selection of roses. It's a formal garden, but still lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is, thank you Jason!
Buena semana.
Un beso.
Me gustan tambien 13 y 16, Laura! He hecho muchas fotos, y tenia problema de escoger mas lindas y de distintos colores. Gracias!
DeleteOh my goodness! Such stately beauty ! Magnificent photos !!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lucja!
DeleteI love the modern variety for it's range of colour, but I love the classic variety for its simplicity and definitely for its authenticity ....
ReplyDeleteSo do I, Bangchik and Kakdah!
DeleteOh what a wonderful post Nadezda! You're also so right, it is wonderful to be able to talk about gardening experiences and exchange those. For me that is mostly through blogging. Love the rose you chose as your favourite. I had noticed it already in one of the photos above the last one. It looks a bit like the rose 'Nostalgie' I have in a container. For my garden I would love to have a purple rose, especially the 'Minerva' rose. I actually ordered it through the internet and while the other roses I ordered arrived, that one was lacking. I called them and they simply said there weren't any anymore. I wasn't too pleased because I especially ordered at that place because they still had that rose it said on their site. Oh well, maybe next year. The other roses I have are mostly pink and some red ones. I don't have any yellow roses. Guess I mostly like the pink and the purple ones that don't grow too high because I have to keep them all in containers. I really wouldn't know the difference between a classic and a modern rose? A rose is a rose is a rose, so many varieties but all so pretty in their own way.
ReplyDeleteMarian
Marian, it's pity that you were not sent a rose that you most prefer. This spring I've bought a floribunda rose, named "Amber". But when I saw the first bud I was disappointed, it was dark red! So I have not yellow rose as well.
DeleteA rose is a rose you're right!
Ohh, those English roses are just lovely! I wonder if I should start growing more in my garden. Then I would need a proper rose bed! But in our climate it can be quite tricky to rise a good rose bed. I'm sure you know it well! :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, I do Tistou. But I love roses so much...
DeleteHow of they grow and take care of so many roses! It must smell delicious, you have captured their beauty with your photos.
ReplyDeleteI suppose there are many gardeners working every day, Rosemary, thank you!
DeleteBeautiful roses, and all so well cared for.
ReplyDeleteYes they are, Juliet. Thank you!
