Near a Lake

I want to continue the story of my journey to Finland in June. The town of Lahti is located on the Lake Vesijärvi. This is a rather large lake, there are several small lakes and rivers around it. The shores of the lake are very picturesque, the nature created a beautiful landscape.

Rocky areas are overgrown with forget-me-nots. Here I've at the first time seen a lot of wild blue and white forget-me-nots. Bright tulips and Ligularia grew in the flowerbeds created by gardeners.

It was summer and chicks of ducks and geese have left their nests and learned to swim and have food together with their parents. Pierce has been placed on a shore of the lake. Here people also taught their children to fish.

The weather became warmer in the afternoon and sitting on the grass I enjoyed the nature, afternoon  sun and warmth.

When I came back to Saint Petersburg I started to watch all photos I took in Finland and have chosen the most interesting of them to show you.

  1. Hello Nadezda girl !
You asked me what clematis the white one is .. it is Henryi or Henrii spelled differently sometimes.
Yes .. white flowers are lovely in the garden when the evening is emerging .. I would love to have a "moon garden" some day with all white plants.
Your pictures from Finland are beautiful ! ... such a pretty place you have visited and I love seeing the geese with their little ones.
It has been very warm here .. 31 degrees with high humidity ... but we aren't as dry as western Canada, they are having a terrible time with fires in their dry heat wave.
It is wonderful to be able to look back on photos taken from trips ... I only wish I had a digital camera when we live in the Netherlands !
    Take care
    Joy : )

    1. I'm glad you like this place as well Joy. Yes it was wonderful trip, I had nice days. I read about fires in western Canada and Alaska, terrible, I'm afraid of fire in woods. Here the weather is cooler than usually, like the end of summer:((

  7. Beautiful pictures Nadezda! I would love to visit Finland one day. I was struck by how very much the geese look like Canada Geese. Just the shape of the head and the facial markings are different. Even the goslings look similar.

    1. You're right Jennifer: geese are very similar! Our Northern geese - near Saint Petersburg or Lahti are the same, but the Canadian ones are a little different. The ducklings and goslings are very cute!
