A New Year and My Cross-Stiching 'Wild Flowers'

A Happy New Year! I hope you've had a joyful Christmas and celebrated the New year 2018. So did I. The Orthodox Christmas is on January 7 and then the "old new year" is on January 13 (I've written here what is it?). As you can see we have many holidays in January :-)
Here is the vintage postcard 'Съ Рождествомъ Христовымъ' (A Merry Christmas), 1900th.

I've finished my new cross-stitching, that makes me happy, I dislike when the work remains unfinished for a long time. I bought the 'Wild flowers and berries' pattern last fall. I liked that it combined bead embroideries, colored ribbons and cross-stitching. When I read the pattern instructions it turned out that you first need to embroider with beads and ribbons and then to work with threads. I photographed the process to see the beginning when I made raspberries and stamens with beads, petals and leaves with ribbons, then to show how the pattern changed.

Here is my new cross-stitching 'Wild flowers and berries':

What do you prefer doing in winter time? If you have made ribbon and bead embroidery what is your experience?

  1. I have a cross stitch that I started some years ago and still haven’t finished it. I like to curl up with a good novel.

  4. It's rather a long time that I did some embroidery. Nowadays my gardening hands and my eyes don't like it any more, so I stick to reading, wood splitting for the woodburner, and other outdore chores.
Wish you a very Happy and Healthy new year Nadezda!

  7. Happy new year to you, dear Nadezda! Your cross stitching is beautiful and required much skill and patience. Congratulations on finishing it. In the winter, I like to work with glass when I can't be in the garden.

  16. You are so talented Nadezda. I haven't embroidered anything since I was young. It would be a good hobby during winter. Right now I am dreaming about the garden, reading, cleaning the house. Nothing too exciting. Seeing your work makes me want to try embroidery again. Especially with beads involved. I wish you a Happy, healthy New Year full of fun things.

  18. This is a beautiful work of art, Nadezda! I used to cross-stitch, but haven't done any in years. My favorite winter crafting is knitting, though I'm not very good at making much more than scarves. But I find it relaxing and a good way to occupy my hands instead of getting on Facebook:) Happy Holidays to you!
