Garden Bloggers' Day: MId-September

Although it is already the middle of September, the weather is quite warm: +20 C in the daytime and +12 C at night. Plants rejoice the warmth, but the cold rain and wind will soon come to us.
I have just arrived after a short vacation on the Baltic Sea and did not expect to see my garden such blooming.
Large red-pinky-creamy inflorescence of Hydrangea paniculata were visible from the porch. The rose 'The Fairy' is still blooming next to Spiraea 'Golden flame'.

As always in autumn bulbs of Colchicum sprout their purple bells. It's unique time when this plant is in bloom. Despite on this flower is so pretty, all parts of it are extremely poisonous

Hostas decorate the front garden, phlox has surprised me with such a long blooming.

The rose ' F J Grootendorst'  has finally come to her senses and blossomed.

In the spring I thought it was completely dead, there were a few leaves on its branches. Now you see its dark red flowers that remind Carnation.
Сlematis 'Justa' (on Virginia creeper) and white flowers of Cosmos show white colors in the garden.

Of course, I want to show you, my friends, the harvest of fruit and vegetables. This autumn has given a lot of apples, plums and patissons. Here they are on the branches ...

and here apples, plums and patissons are already collected. I will make jam and canned patissons.

I wish you all joyous September, beautiful and bright flowers in your garden!

  1. September is unusually warm to be sure. Today it was around 30 degrees, unheard of for this time of the year. Yesterday we had dinner with friends and sat outside on the patio.

  2. Nadezda, you have so many beautiful flowers in your garden! I love the Grootendorst rose, I saw it recently in a nursery but was hesitant about buying it since I read it gets huge and space is a problem in my small garden. Last but not least Congratulations on your fruits and vegetables harvest! Have a great sunday!

    1. Thanks Manolo, this harvest is the award on my work in the garden. About rose Grootendorst. Here in my climate this rose doesn't grow 'huge', to say the truth it grows slowly and needs to be manured. I usually prune the ends of branches in spring so it's not tall or wide at all.

  9. Just great flowers! Garden harvest is a wonderful gathering. What are you doing apples and plums?

    1. I usually freeze plums to cook compote later in winter, Anne. I think to cook apple jam and then to make dried apples to add to plum compote.
Now I make 'charlotte' apple pie every week :-)

  11. Your weather is certainly better than ours at the moment. The temperatures have dropped here and we are having lots of drizzly rain. Not enough to do much good just enough to keep us indoors.

  20. I get really jealous when I see your wonderful blooming September garden!
What concerns my garden, the good news is we also had a great grape, plum and apple harvest! Bad news: It was too hot and dry for such a long time that flowers like Zinnias, Asters, Cosmos, Dahlias ... had no chance to grow and to bloom. :(

    1. Sigrid, I know that the weather in your place this summer was very dry and no drops of water during months. Your good harvest has to be tasty especially grape, that here doesn't grow.
Hopefully this autumn is warm and sunny.

  21. How nice to have this welcome on your return. The flowers here are still blooming, the leaves are still on the trees and haven't yet started to fall. At this time of year, I always find myself thinking, "hmmm... maybe this year winter won't come.... " (sigh). You have a very fine crop of fruits. I am always envious of your beautiful garden, and always enjoy reading your posts.

  23. What a beautiful Hydrangea! I love it's delicate cream and pink flowers. A lovely display for you to come home to with many pretty blooms and delicious looking fruit. Of course, this all comes about because of much work on your part. Hope you can sit in the sun and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
    Enjoy the days ahead.
