I love visiting various gardens and I always pay attention to a combination of colors of flowers, plants. I wonder how experienced gardeners create unity and balance of colors. I have learned the color wheel and would like to apply it in my garden.
Here are some examples of a wonderful
combination of colors. I took these photos in the Kensington
garden, London.
The eye is naturally attracted to different shades. Gardeners combined dark red and green, used a variety of shades, red with blue, white or yellow with purple.
I payed attention to how white color was added as a lovely
neutral. I often add silvery cineraria as a monochromatic color in my rose beds.
White is always a wonderful color to mix into any colored plants.
Our gardens are a matter of personal taste. If you are interested in what combination of colors I like most, so it is a photo above: white with dark blue.
In fact, I rarely use a color wheel, because if I plant perennials or bulbs, taking into account the combination of colors, maybe in the next spring, some plants will not survive. Our climate in unpredictable:-(
Do you use color wheel when you plan something in your garden?
Beautiful photos from Kensington garden, Nadezda! No I don't use the color wheel in my garden, but when I buy plants I know what I like. I like white and blue colors too :)
ReplyDeleteSo do I, Marit.Glad you liked my photos, I took them 3 years ago.
DeleteHaces bien en fijarte en los jardines de ellos aprendemos.Preciosas fotos
ReplyDeleteYa estamos preparando el huerto.
Buen fin de semana Nadezda. Cuídate.
Un abrazo.
He visto tus fotos del hurto, Laura. El invento de Paco me admira. Muy inteligente.
DeleteTe deseo buena cosecha.
Amazing beautiful flowers. Have a nice weekend Nadezda!
ReplyDeleteKiitos Anne!
DeleteСпасибо, что заглянули!
I have visited Kensington Gardens, surely one of the most wonderful of the world's botanical treasures. It thrills me, so I can only imagine the joy for a dedicated gardener.
ReplyDeleteDavid, it's a joy to visit this garden and to recollect that time, especially now when the travels are impossible.
DeleteKauniita väriyhdistelmiä.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Kruunuvuokko.
DeleteBoa tarde minha querida amiga. Essas flores são muito lindas.
ReplyDeleteGracias, Luiz.
DeleteFeliz fin de semana.
What a beautiful place you have visited.
ReplyDeleteI love to play with colors, and I am not sure I have a favourite. Maybe the neighbour colors blue and pink/purple. But in shade I prefer white or pale yellow.
Blue and white are also beautiful, so I understand you.
Best regards Lisbeth
Lisbeth, I like a lot of color combinations, it depends on the plant that is growing nearby.
DeleteI often try to plant multi-colored perennials, and it works well.
Hello Nadezda ! It's always nice to see photos from your travels! I admire how experienced gardeners combine colors in the garden! I arrange my garden spontaneously without any plan! First I buy a plant and then I look for a place to plant!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend !
Previously I used to do the same, Ela. Then I found out that there was no more free space and I buy the most necessary plants only now.
DeleteI love to see different color combinations in the gardens.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful garden, your photos are spectacular.
Hugs and all the best for you
Maria, the Kensington garden is popular and well known in London. It surrounds the Kensington palace home to the royal family.
DeleteGlad you liked my photos.
They are all nice colour combinations. I somehow prefer to see combinations of form to combinations of colour, and marvel at the ability of gardeners who can master this. I have heard that Vita Sackville West's White Garden is well worth a visit, and it is one of those things I want to do - it's at Sissinghurst Castle which I have often been quite near, but never managed to visit. Extraordinary, when I think of it. I have heard about it for so many years!
ReplyDeleteThe White Garden always amazes with its unusual combination of forms of white flowers and plants. I was in the White garden in RHS Garden Wisley, it was amazing Jenny.
DeleteSuch wonderful colours and combinations! These beds have clearly been designed by experts. :)
ReplyDeleteI choose colours instinctively. I love all of them, but for the garden I choose colours from white to purple via pink and lilac. The result may look boring but it pleases me. :)
Stay safe and well, dear Nadezda!
Sure your garden isn't boring, Sara. I love combination of color and form but some plants die during the winter and the result drops.
DeleteLovely color combinations, Nadezda! My favorite is the second photo.
ReplyDeleteHappy new week!
Hugs!
Combination with purple and white is lovely as well Tania.
DeleteHave a nice day.
