In the previous days the weather was very hot and I was waiting for rain. And the other day I woke up at 3 am by thunder. I got up and went to the window. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled as if directly over the roof of the country cottage. Heavy rain poured right through the window. I immediately closed the window because I am very afraid of lightning.
Then I fell asleep again and got up as usual at 7 am. The air was fresh and clean, and there were drops of rain on the grass and plants. I brewed coffee, added milk to the cup, and went to the garden with a cup of coffee. I drank coffee and looked at the plants. Why not take pictures of the plants after a heavy rain?
Campanula medium and Pelargoniums
Poor white peonies
My veggies in raised beds, lettuce and parsley
Roses withstood heavy rain well
In the afternoon, the sun again heated the air to +26 C and I moved into the shade of the gazebo with my armchair. The forecast does not promise heavy rains in the coming days. It's good that the tanks were filled to the brim with rain water.
Hi Nadezda,
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky who got rain. Here it's very dry. Your flowers looks great after the rain. I don't like lighning either. Your roses are very pretty.
Marit, it has rained only once in recent days, forecast it will not rain for 10 days in advance.
DeleteGood thing it rained there. Here we also expect water rain. The ground is really dry. Do you collect rainwater in barrels? We have always collected. It is an important aid in watering garden plants.
ReplyDeleteI always collect rainwater, Anne. It gives me the opportunity to save on running water.
DeleteNot only was the rain good for the garden, it probably worked wonders on your mental state too, Nadezda. And it's great to have the rain barrels filled to the brim.
ReplyDeleteYes, you're right, David. Rain barrels are emptied quickly if it rains infrequently.
DeleteI'm sure that your garden will have appreciated the rain.
ReplyDeleteYes, you're right, Sue. The garden is very happy with rainwater.
DeleteTäällä meillä on hyvin helteistä ja kuivaa. Sadetta ei ole saatu pitkään aikaan.
ReplyDeleteOur climate is very similar Anemone, it's true.
DeleteHello Nadezda ! I understand your feelings about thunder storms .. they make me feel on edge too. Ontario has had a few weird tornados and they are usually spurred on by sudden intense thunder storms .. yes most times the air can be cleared up with one weather front moving out for the other .. and other times it just gets hotter and more humid. Your roses look great from the rain ! My rain barrel has been filled as well so I am happy with that too.
ReplyDeleteJoy, here, after a thunderstorm and rain, the weather is as hot and dry as before. What a pity! I want cool weather and rain. There is a full water barrel in your garden due to thunderstorms. It's good.
DeleteО, rain water! I remember, my grandma was collecting it exclusively for washing her hair. She was sure that after that the hair was soft and shiny. When we were visiting her I couldn’t get why I cannot wash my hair in the bathtub, where water was already hot and running out of faucet....
ReplyDeleteAnd you’re collecting rain water in barrels for plants, are you?
Dear Irina, when your grandmother did this, the climate was different, the air was cleaner than now. The rainwater was soft (and still is). I think the bathtub water had a high percentage of lime in it.
DeleteHow great for you to get rain - even if there was thunder and lightning. It is so much easier and better for the garden than four watering.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers with raindrops are beautiful.
Best regards Lisbeth
I agree Lisbeth, rainwater is better for plants, it's soft water.
DeleteGlad you liked my photos.
Boa tarde Nadezda, essa chuva trouxe muita vida.
ReplyDeleteAgree Luiz, plants need a lot of water in summer.
DeleteHola Nadezda.
DeleteThank you Rajani.
ReplyDeleteI will.
ReplyDeleteНадежда, у вас прекрасный сад и очаровательные цветы.
ReplyDeleteТеплого вам лета.
Спасибо, Надежда и вам желаю удачного летнего сезона.
DeleteNo me gustan las tormentas. Y me alegro que tu jardín no sufriera daños. Está precioso.
ReplyDeleteBuen fin de semana Nadezda. Cuídate
Un abrazo.
Buen sabado Laura, espero por otra lluvia :-)

ReplyDeleteI see you would like to have rain as well Sara. So do I.
DeleteDear Nadezda!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. I am delighted with valuable vegetables. I'm sure they taste great.
Hugs and greetings, dear Nadezda.
Dear Lucja, every day I have fresh lettuce with parsley and celery and yes, they are tasty.
DeleteHappy Sunday!
Hi Nadezda,
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos with the rain drops.
I loved the orange rose, it's amazing.
Hugs and all the best for you
Maria, this rose floribunda blooms twice in summer and soon will be the second blooming.
DeleteHugs!
Tutto sommato non mi sembrano male.
ReplyDeleteAnche la peonia è rimasta bene o male in posizione eretta :)
Ti auguro una buona estate malgrado le piogge forti!
Gabriel, this heavy rain happened once a month, I would like it to come more often.
DeleteI don't like to water every day :-(
I'm afraid of storms too, Nadezda, but rain is necessary. Your peony is still wonderful after the rain.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice new week!
Hugs!
