Spring Is Coming

The air is already warm. Last week the temperature was +15. I haven't been to the garden yet because of my sore leg, but I was shown photos, and I was inspired by the long-awaited changes.

The soil has not yet warmed up, but in some places the grass is already starting to turn green and the first spring flowers, crocuses and snowdrops are appearing. There is snow on the northern side of the garden. Spring is still cool and windy.

Here (below) is what the lawn in front of the summer cottage looked like at the end of March. But the snow quickly melted at the beginning of April.

Every spring you want to see these brave flowers appearing right from under the snow.

It is amazing that the bees woke up so early in the spring and are already collecting nectar from crocuses.

I have already prepared disposable cups for flower and vegetable seedlings at home. A little soil for seedlings was left over from last year and I also received some by order. I hope it will be enough for 30 disposable cups.

It is difficult to predict the weather in May, when the plants should be actively growing. There are many perennial flowers in the flowerbeds that bloom early in April and in May: tulips, crocuses, daffodils, muscari. I think they will perfectly decorate the modest nature of spring.

Despite the fact that no one has lived in the cottage since October, there is always a lot of work in the house. Hang fresh curtains, air out the carpets, wipe the dust in the rooms, clean the kitchen, etc.

I would like my leg to quickly reach the state when I can walk and climb the stairs. For me, this is very important now.

All the best to everyone.

  1. Liebe Nadezda,

  3. Those splashes of colour are very welcome, Nadezda. Here spring keeps teasing us a little, but overall the weather has been cold and, other than for a few crocuses, flowers have been slow to bloom. Overnight we had snow again, not a huge amount but the ground is white and the branches are laden. I am ready for a break in the weather! Best wishes - David

    1. We've had the same weather, David. It's snowing today. The poor flowers! They'll have to bloom again.

Your springflowers are very beautiful. The snow has almost melted here. It's so nice to see all the flowers in the garden.

  6. The Märzenbecher and crocuses are so beautiful in your garden, and I hope the snow disappears soon, and above all, that your leg steadily improves so you can soon manage the stairs.

I looked up lemon soup online – great – I'll make it too... the translation error revealed it – because I drank "hot lemon" – that's lemon with hot water and sugar – and ate potato soup... it was delicious. Garnished with green oil.

I've never seen that before either... I made it myself – chopped up lots of chives and drizzle them with sunflower oil (sunflower oil can be heated to 60 degrees Celsius). I didn't heat it... let it stand for three days... and then we'll see :-)))
Well, if your chives grow in the your garden, maybe. I bought the chives at the market... I was lucky because they had some.

Best wishes and all the best to you. Viola

    1. Thank you for explaining to me about "lemon soup" :0) Of course, it was a hot drink with lemon, which I also like. What is potato soup? Is it cooked with vegetables without meat?
Green onions grow in boxes on my kitchen windowsill, I use them often.

    2. This potato soup is cooked with vegetables, vegetable broth, and potatoes, then pureed—no meat. Many people eat it with Vienna sausages, though—I prefer it without them.
I'm curious to see how my green oil turns out :-))) and I have sourdough bread in the oven—I bake it with home-ground rye grains that I buy from the farmer.
Happy evening to you and greetings to you.

  8. Nadezda,
I believe that maintaining a cottage is a lot of work, but it must be a joy to see the seasons change there, from the charm of the snow to the colors and beauty of nature in spring.
All the pictures are so beautiful.
The capture of the bee in the crocus flowers is fantastic.
My friend, a speedy recovery so you can do everything you want.
    Hugs and all the best

    1. Dear Maria, you are right, the cottage needs a lot of care, from painting after many years to closing the windows to protect against thieves. I am glad you liked the photos. I am getting better and will soon be able to walk without assistance.
