I was offered by Satu, my
neighbor from Helsinki to tell what Christmas means to me. What the scent of
Christmas is for me. I respond to this
challenge, thank you, Satu!.
The calm forest, frozen trunks,
light colors in depth, all of these are scent of coming Christmas and New Year.
Feelings of Christmas are
different in childhood and in adulthood.
As a child, we are waiting for
gifts from Santa and as the adults we are happy our gifts to bring joy to loved
ones.
Now the four questions are:
1. What is my favorite flower at
Christmas?
Poinsettia (Christ Star) is sold
before the holiday. I've read the story of this flower and now I usually buy Poinsettia with bright red or pink top leaves to decorate my home.
2. What preparation for the
holiday, do I never miss?
Of course, buying gifts, I always
try to please the close people. The Christmas Tree. It is nice to decorate it,
especially to get the old Christmas decorations left over from many years. By
the new tradition I put the Advent candles on my window sill.
3. What the scent of Christmas is
for me?
It associates with traditional
Christmas food, champagne and red wine.
As usual the mix salad ‘Olivier
‘(meat, potatoes, vegetables and mayonnaise), hot turkey or baked fish,
sometimes caviar and cake or pudding there is on the holiday table.
In the morning people go on the
frosty air, many fireworks, lots of laughter and joy.
4. Which song does make my
Christmas?
Some years ago I saw the movie
‘Love Actually’, I really liked it. I love the song ‘All I want for Christmas
is you’ that the girl Joanna (Olivia Olson) sang at the school on holiday.
I now challenge to share what
Christmas makes for the blogger:
1. Rosemary 'Tales from my garden'
2. Ash 'Houris in the Garden'
4. Betty 'Gum leaves'
5. Lucia 'Glass, eye and heart'
6. Jason 'Garden in a city'
Tell me, please:
what is your favorite Christmas
flower,
which preparation for Christmas
you never miss
what is the scent of Christmas
and
which song makes your Christmas!
Wonderful post Nadezda, and thank you for the challenge. You are so right, Christmas is quite different when you are a child, either way the house will be full of the wonderful smell of cooking and baking to chase away the cold!

Betty, I like to cook pudding for Christmas but every holiday I have the new recipe. So not every pudding comes out well and delicious. This one on the photo was wonderful with a lot of fruit. Thank you!

DeleteThat looks like a delicious meal, especially the cake!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jason, this pudding is yummy!Thank you!
DeleteWhat a fun challenge. Your giving personality really shown through in this post. I hadn't thought about the scent of Christmas much, but this post makes me realize, yes, Christmas does have its own special scent.
ReplyDeleteHolley, it's true! Christmas is special holiday. Thank you!
Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteHad my previous comment got lost somewhere on the internet, because I was writing for sure. Your answers and photos to the challenge I like very much. I also try to think of something, but I can not promise that it will be in the next post. Yours.
Thank you, Giga!
DeleteNie gniewaj się, ale ja chyba nie dam rady coś wymyślić przed Świętami. Oprócz nawału zajęć bierze mnie jeszcze przeziębienie. Przepraszam i pozdrawiam serdecznie.
DeleteDo not be angry, but I do not think I can come up with something before Christmas. In addition to the flood of course still takes me cold. I'm sorry and I greet warmly.
That's all right, Giga! I understand the weather and flood, take care!
DeleteAh, the snow is so beautiful! We never have white Christmases here. If we get snow it's always after the new year.
ReplyDeleteI wish you have a little snow on Christmas. If no, I can send you some snow off my garden:))
DeleteThank you!
This post reminds me of my childhood--when I lived even further north and Christmas was always very white! Sometimes snow can be very insulating and comforting. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful photos, the memories, and the thoughts. And thanks for joining in the "Lessons Learned" meme.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked my post, thank you!
DeleteYour top photo reminds me of Norway, where I am from. It's usually very cold in December and January in the area where I lived, often well belowe minus 35 Celsius, that's what reminds me of Christmas. I live in London now, completely different climate, different Christmas traditions, we don't even celebrate it on the same day - in Norway Christmas celebration is on the 24th, here in Britain it is on the 25th! Thanks for reminding me I also should write about Christmas traditions :-)
ReplyDeleteHelen, this is nice you want to share your thoughts and traditions about Christmas celebration. Thank you!
DeleteI'm so glad you took this challenge, Nadezda! It was nice to read about your Christmas. There's a lot of same and something different. Today I've changed my blog's name and address. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSatu
Your new blog looks nice.Thank you, Satu!
DeleteYour first two photos are so beautiful! I think of snow when I think of Christmas, too, although many years we don't have a white Christmas. You are so right that our feelings change as we get older--I enjoy seeing others opening their gifts much more than I do opening my own, now. I hope your Christmas brings you all the familiar joys this year, Nadezda!
ReplyDeleteWho knows, may be you'll have white Christmas. Thank you, Rose!
DeleteI love the scent of pine trees at Christmas. I also love the song 'All I want for Christmas is You.' My favorite part of Christmas is just being together and surprising someone with a small gift they on't expect. Merry Christmas, Nadezda! :o)
ReplyDeleteTammy, knowing your sense of humor I can imagine the gifts ('they don't expect') you've put under the tree. Well we both love this song. Thank you!
DeleteI like your description of Christmas, so many things to look forward to! Lovely pictures of snowy woods, thank you.
ReplyDeleteI miss Olivier and caviar :(
The salad Olivier is made very easy, You may get any sausage instead of 'doctorskaia' and you'll have some salad in Christmas too. Thank you, Маша!
DeleteBeautiful snowy photos hope you have a great christmas
ReplyDeleteJulie, thank you for stopping by! Merry Christmas!
DeleteHello Nadezda! I am just catching up on your blog! This post is lovely. What amazing photos!! Sounds like you really enjoy Christmas and also like to make it special to those close to you. Lovely : )
