At
the weekend I went to take a look at my summer house and garden The
plants were ready to winter, for cold and snow. In the garden bushes
were without leaves, only dogwood, some roses, and apple trees had some leaves. The pond was frozen when I arrived in the
morning, but then light ice has melted.
Little silver fir is hardy, its small bumps were still growing. The dim sun shone spherical thujas and night rain drops. Deciduous rhododendrons (azaleas) dropped their leaves and evergreen ones will turn off their leaves to reduce the evaporation of moisture in the frost.
Then
I strolled along the nearest woods. The leaves almost fell down, black
trunks and branches were seen everywhere. The birds have flown away,
only sparrows, chickadees and magpies stayed to winter. Fog started to fall at early
evening, it was quickly getting dark, the days are short in October.
I took a few pictures of the foggy forest.
That is all for now, see you soon!
Beautiful pictures, Nadezda. The shots in the woods by the water are so rich in colour.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked my photos, Tracey. Thank you!
DeleteHuh! That looks rather cold! Yesterday we had a great storm - I think today it will reach you! Stay inside and shut doors and windows!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Meggie
Meggie, this storm is here now! Thank you and take care you too!
DeleteBeautiful pictures Nadezda. I can't believe it's almost November already!!
ReplyDeleteTime runs fast, Keith! Thank you!
DeleteIt seems that the weather is changing more quickly at your country house. I think maybe the next time you visit there will be snow covering all.
ReplyDeleteI am delighted with your photos of bare trees and reflections with mist/fog. I thought your header was a painting when I first looked.
Thank you for all of your lovely images. I learn so much from your posts.
Betty
My new header is from the last photos of the woods, Betty. You're right maybe I come to my garden and see snow, the weather is getting colder. Thank you!
DeleteYou have a glorious October... love the golden tones in the water.
ReplyDeleteThis fall is warm and colorful, you're right, Carolyn. Thank you!
DeleteOctober in your part of the world is lovely. We've had a little ice in the birdbaths so far, but no ice on the ponds yet!
ReplyDeleteI like your foggy forest, it is serene and beautiful.
Here was storm, strong wind and no ice yet on my pond. The weather changes fast. Thank you, Laurrie!
DeleteGreat pictures you show .... looks like "autumn" here in Denmark.
ReplyDeleteYesterday we had a storm ...... the worst storm we've ever had in this country.
Wish you a good Tuesday :) Hugs Hanne Bente ♥
Hanne Bente, I've seen on TV forecast the damage this storm made in England and Denmark. Terrible! It came here but not such strong, wind was strong and much rain. The Neva river water level has been high. Thank you and take care!
DeleteHow quickly the autumn has come with bare trees, golden grass, mysterious fog and icy pond. Lovely pictures! Soon comes the snow and all will be white for winter.
ReplyDeletePeter, I see you love winter, don't you? When I think about snow and my garden I imagine snow shovel and digging, digging... Thank you!
DeleteBeautiful pictures again Nadezda. The ones with the woods have something mytical about them due to the fog.
ReplyDeleteYes, nature is getting ready for winter.
Marian
It's true, the woods are silent, peaceful, no bird sounds, just I've heard the falling leaves. Thank you, Marian!
DeleteNadezda, beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteForest in autumn looks wonderful.
Greetings.
Lucia
Thank you, Lucia!
DeleteGracias y cuidate!
How nice that you have such a lovely forest near your summer home, Nadezda! Very pretty pictures of autumn - one of my favourite seasons.

DeleteBeautiful pictures Nadezda, it looks very serene but cold. I am not looking forward to winter, hope it will be over quickly and not like last winter!
ReplyDeleteHelene, I thought how you are in storm and have read in your blog about it. Glad you're fine, without serious damage. I do hope winter is not too soon. Thank you!
DeleteStunning photos Nadezda and love those autumnal colours too. November tomorrow, how the year has flown by.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Today is November, two months and we're in the next year. The time has flown very fast, Patricia! Thank you!
DeleteHello dearest Nadezda,
ReplyDeleteI love your magical, enchanted pictures, so beautiful!
Have a good time ***
Glad you liked my photos, Carolina. Thank you!
DeleteYour shots of the foggy forest are just beautiful Nadezda! Are the fine white trees Birch? The white back and slender shape is so striking against the horizon.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are, Jennifer. Thank you so much!
DeleteBeautiful images, Nadezda! Our leaves have finally turned, but it's been rainy here with wind--I'm hoping we can enjoy the brightly colored trees for a few days before all the leaves blow off. Love your header photo--just perfect for late fall!
ReplyDeleteLate autumn is such colorful season, Rose. Hope you have it long before winter comes. Thank you!
DeleteI love the reflections in the lake!
ReplyDeleteSo do I, Sue. Thank you!
DeleteI like this season, even though its dark and misty. I like to calm down and become contemplative and spend much time indoors with books and maybe look at a few plant catalogues.
ReplyDeleteI also like shrubs and the bare bones of trees.
Looking at plant catalogues is a fascinating occupation, Friko! I usually love it in winter when snow falls in my garden. Thank you!
DeleteOctober flew by, didn't it? Our trees are just now starting to drop their leaves. The trees in your photos are quite bare, but simply beautiful. And I love your silver fir!
ReplyDeleteYes, it did, Holley! My silver fir is still very little and every spring grows quite well. Thank you!
DeleteBeautiful photos, Nadezda!
ReplyDeleteGreetings, RW & SK
Thank you for stopping by, Our photos!
DeleteOh Nadezda...your fall photographs are so beautiful. The one of the lake looks like a painting-just amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked my photos, Lee. Thank you!
