Harvest, August 2020

This summer harvest is good, despite the cool July and cold August nights. In mid-May I planted tomato, pepper and eggplant seedlings in the greenhouse. Look at the eggplants! I bought seeds of Japanese eggplants. They are long and thin and taste good. Their skin is not bitter and they have a few seeds.
Patty-pans (pattison) look very pretty, I gather young ones and love to fry them with eggplants.
The wild strawberry continue to produce juicy and aromatic fruit.

Cucumbers grow in the greenhouse and in the garden. There are a lot of them, and I made 14 cans of pickles for the winter.
The tomatoes turned red, some are still greenish, and the ripe ones I have already eaten :-0)

There is a little pepper and they ripen slowly.
Here is my harvest in August, hopefully the rest of the vegetables will ripen soon.
Have you grown any veggies this summer? What is your crop?

    1. Jenny, basil is such a fragrant plant and I always try to grow it but without success. I think our climate is too cold for basil.

  2. Wonderful, delicious photos, Nadezda! Also the previous post is really beautiful.
We have grown mainly different kinds of berries and potatoes this year. The potatoes have grown OK but not as well as last year. Lots of currants now. And Boletus and Cantharellus from the woods. :)
I hope things go well and you can soon travel. Stay safe and well!!

    1. Agnes, these are pattypans or pattison. It's a squash of a saucer-shaped variety with a scalloped rim and creamy white flesh. They taste like young pumpkins.

    1. Estoy de acuerdo, Laura, las verduras de tu propio huerto no se pueden comparar con las verduras de un supermercado.
