It's November, dark and cold month. The days are short, I don't particularly like early darkness, at 5 pm a dark evening begins. I learned about the climate change and hope this winter won't be too cold and snowy.
Rosehip bushes are with the last leaves and beautiful red fruits.
The fruits of the rosehip bush differ in their shape and color. I'm not sure about the varieties of these bushes. The colors and shapes of flowers also vary.
I also love small white berries of Symphoricarpus, or snowberry bush. There is only one adult snowberry bush in my garden.You may remember that I showed you my summer nursery where I grew young plants for the new garden. So I have 2 young Symphoricarpus planted in the soil, hopefully they winter well. I covered all young plantings with dry maple leaves and plastic.

DeleteLovely images, Nadezda. As you say November brings short days, but so far - here at least - the weather has been unseasonably warm. This is the time to think of next spring and make plans for the garden. I am sure that looking through the seed catalogues and imagining all the new growth will spur you along as you enjoy hot coffee in the cozy environs of your living room.
ReplyDeleteYou are very right, David. As I already wrote, a place has been added to my old garden. It makes me think and plan for the landscape, new trees, bushes and flowers. These thoughts are pleasant, I have the opportunity to surf the Internet and garden magazines in search of interesting ideas.

DeleteYour garden is preparing beautifully for winter sleep. I had beautifully colored plants for a long time, but cold nights made the leaves fall profusely on the lawn. So now I have a lot of healthy exercise with rakes in the fresh air.

DeleteWe had very colorful and mild beginning of November, but then sadly Mr Frost came and took all the beauty! But some asters are still in bloom. And grasses are so beautiful at the moment. I wish we had more sun though.

DeleteYour garden is pretty in each season, Nadezda. I was surprised you had a pine-niwaki – do you have to place anything around it in winter to shelter it? I don’t have a garden in Nashville, just a backyard with several trees.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post about the pharmacy in St. Petersbourg. The only pharmacy museum I know of in the US is the one in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was started in 1804 I believe. Unfortunately when I was in New Orleans last this museum was closed. Maybe when we can travel again I’ll visit it.
I've never shelted this pine -niwaki, Vagabonde. 10 years ago I had brought a small pine from woods and planted it in the garden. In early years I formed its trunk and branches and now the pine grows well.
