September is already there, summer has run so fast. The end of May and June it was a time of magnificent flowering of evergreen rhododendrons and azaleas in my garden.
The winter of 2018-19 was very snowy. The snow lay in dense layers and strongly bent their trunks and branches to the ground.
In early May, flower buds began to grow and I realized that they are alive and will bloom. The evergreen 'Daughter of the North' (lilac) bloomed first, then the 'Helsinki University' (red), then 'Peter Tigereshedt' (white with a brown spot). Later 'Haaga' (dark red) and 'Roseum Elegans' (light lilac).
In June, all the bushes pleased me with their bright flowering.
When the evergreen rhododendrons began to fade, my azaleas opened their flowers. 'Northern Lights' (white with a lemon spot) and 'Mandarin Lights' (orange) continued the beauty in this corner of the garden.
In July, I usually remove faded flowers .Later, I feed evergreen rhododendrons and azaleas with mainly potassium and phosphorus. I hope my rhododendrons will please me next summer. What was summer in your garden?
Hello Nadezda! Your rhododendrons and azaleas are absolutely fabulous. And these colors ... Summer in my garden was sunny and recently rainy, so the flowers grow beautifully. Have a nice week. Hugs. Anita
Good morning dear Nadezda, It must be fantastic to welcome and see all these beautiful flowers after having a cold and snowy wintertime. I hope your summer was not to dry for the Rhodo's and they will prepare well for coming springtime. Have a wonderful day Rosehugs Marijke
Lovely to see all your rhododendron and azalea. It's nice to have many photos of summer when we now will have autumn and winter. They can be seen again and again until next spring. Happy September! Hugs
The colours of your rhododendrons are of such variety. I like the dusty pink one, especially. You must have been relieved to see your bushes blooming after heavy winter snow! Thank you for sharing this lovely display, Nadezda, also to share the way you trim and feed them after blooming. They should go well again next year.
Enhorabuena amiga por estas bellezas🌷🌸🌺 Tus rododendros están preciosos Nadezda. Me encantó el video. Maravilla de jardín. Te deseo un buen domingo. Un abrazo.
What a wonderful display of rhododendrons. I love these flowers, especially when they grow very large. It makes me feel as if I am in some kind of enchanted forest!
Jenny, my rhododendrons are not high as they should be due to snow cover in winter. Some of them suffer from weight of snow and bend. But, despite this, they bloom wonderfully, I agree.
Thank you for stopping by Nadezda's Northern Garden blog! I'm glad to read your friendly comments very much. Feel free to comment on the posts or photos I warmly welcome the new followers on my blog.
