The Last Beautiful Autumn Day

Since long trips are not currently available, I prefer to walk in the surrounding area if the weather permits, especially in the autumn forest. A very strong and cold wind has been blowing for several days, there is almost no foliage on the trees.

Therefore, I believe that this day was the last warm autumn day. Bright sun, blue sky, calm. I was walking in the forest, not far from the Baltic Sea coast (as I told you, friends, in September), and I wanted to see the colors of the Autumn trees. Looking at the beauty of the trees, I discovered that stones of all sizes lie not only on the shore, but also on the ground, even under the roots of pines and deciduous trees.

I have read about the nature of stones. If sharp-angled stone fragments fall from the rocks into a mountain stream or onto the seashore, then the water rolls them over, grinds them, makes them rounded.

Rivers and seas wash away rocky shores, fragments of solid rocks fall from the slopes, washed by water and moving ice, and turn into boulders and pebbles.

I saw many picturesque places in the forest, here they are:

The sun was already low, it was about 5 pm so I went out of the forest to the shore. Crows flew over the trees and the sand, looking for something edible on the shore. The seagulls sat motionless on the stones scattered in the sea. From time to time they solved their problems loudly.

As far as I can see now, it was the last beautiful autumn day. It passed, leaving memories of the bright sun, blue sky, trees with yellow leaves and stones.

How do you spend autumn days?

  1. You have taken so many beautiful photos, Nadezda. I like the forest very much, and still it is autumncolors here on the trees. It's amazing to see the big stones. The ice and the water have shaped them for many years.

  3. I think that autumn has pretty much had its last gasp here too, Nadezda, although yesterday was beautiful and sunny and the temperature climbed to a pleasant 16 degrees. There are not many leaves left on the trees and a couple of mornings we have had frost. But each day that passes takes us closer to spring. Keep that in mind!

    1. I love your thought, David: every fall day brings us closer to spring. But do not forget about the cold and snowy winter ((. The weather pampers us - daytime temperatures + 12 C.

  8. Preciosas fotos.

  10. Dear Nadezda,
thank you for these wonderful images. You are asking where we others spend our autumn days ... so unfortunately not at the Baltic Sea but on the mountains in the south of Austria on the border to Italy. The nature is wonderful these days. All the larks are turn golden. As you mentioned: Travelling is difficult these days so I'm really happy to see your pictures because I can travell to your wonderful country without leaving my house.
All my best and a happy November

  15. My dear! Your autumn seaside walks were beautiful!
October was exceptionally warm and sunny in our country. We had a real Polish golden autumn.
I could not afford to travel closer or further, so I spent every free moment after returning from work to cleaning up in the garden ;-))
    Stay healthy!
    Hugs!

  16. Short walks in the forest or by the shore are always refreshing. I love hiking and go each time in different places.
Evergreens belong to the trees that grow in rocky areas, their roots little by little destroy the rocks turning them into soil with time. Later on here can other plants survive because a thin layer of soil already exists.
