The Parks of Oslo, Norway

The parks of Oslo, the capital of Norway, are quiet, charming and their landscapes are very well thought-out.
At first I visited The Oslo University Botanic Gardens and I really loved it. There are several separate small gardens:  herbs garden, grandmother’s garden, systematic garden, rose garden and stone garden.I liked tree peony, they were large bushes with beautiful flowers.

In the stone garden there was the beautiful stony waterfall, surrounded by rhododendrons, I liked that they nicely reflected in the water stream.

The Sculpture Park is another park I've seen, it was created by the sculptor Vigeland. It is large and very interesting. The more than 200 sculptures are located in the central part of the park and around a large fountain. Here are two sculptures, "The mother of two children" and "The angry boy".

The third one was the Park of the Royal Palace, located in the heart of the city. This park was very peaceful and everyone could enjoy nature or just relax.

After visiting these parks I walked to the Oslo fjord harbor. Also it was night, 11:00 pm, it was clear because of "white" night.

Here is my video 'Rhododendrons bloom in Oslo Botanic garden' :

    1. Joy, thank you! I loved my tour too, I wanted very much to visit the Botanical garden and take the photos. We have the "white nights" in Saint Petersburg too, because of the same latitude.

  2. Hi Nadezda
How wonderful that you had a chance to travel to Oslo! The botanical park is very lovely and you captured its beauty very well in your photos. I liked the plants as well as the sculptures. Definitely the time of year in Scandinavia, the Baltics and northern Russia that it finally gets dark at midnight but the sun rises again about 3 a.m. and it's bright again :)

    1. Astrid, you're right! We here have the "white nights" too, during the end of May - all June. So we need the thick window curtains to sleep well!!

  7. What gorgeous open spaces. Oslo is a city I'd love to visit, I like the cool North rather than the hot South of Europe.

  10. Nadezda,
Thank you for your visit to Wife, Mother, Gardener! I am glad you came so that I could visit your blog as well. Those tree peonies are beautiful!!! And I love rhododendrons.

Your plants must grow very quickly during your long days in the summer. They must love all of the light.
    Nice to meet you!

    1. You're right, a good sense of humor. I chose this sculpture "the angry boy!" because it's on the cover of all the albums and postcards on this Vigeland Park
