First harvest in the Northern Garden

Last week was very rainy. The weather turned bad and the temperature dropped.
My white rose Margaret Merrill was not resistant to rain, and some of its buds were dark.

The park red rose "Boys' Brigade" and
the polyanthus pink rose "The Fairy"  feel great!

The berries, apples, vegetables ripen despite the cool weather and rain.

Redcurrant berries have already matured, it is necessary to collect them soon!

Blackcurrant berries become larger and tastier.

Strawberry ripens too, turns red quickly,
it needs a little heat and it becomes sweet.
I gathered the first harvest of strawberries.

In my greenhouse tomatoes grow slowly, they are still green.
The hostas began to blossom with their blue and white bells..

The apples are still small, they are getting red and ripen very quickly.

July, evening, it's so beautiful to look at the sky after working day in the garden!

  2. Beautiful sky to cap off your day.Love working in the garden and my you are busy, so much to harvest. My currants have gotten buggy, I've never had to spray but will have to I think. What do you make with your currants? Everything looks wonderful.

    1. Hi,bakingbarb! You're right, this summer I found a lot of bugs on my berries bushes, and I had to spray them twice. I love all currants to eat (mostly the largest!) at first, then I do jam and jell especially of redcurrants. Thank you!

  7. Hi Nadezda,
yes, the rose Malven are rain resistant! They look good.
I was searching for your email, but can't found ....
I want to show you some pictures, because I found the same old rose with you in your garden!
We did'nt know what her name was! It grows there since old times in the garden of my aunt, where we now live.
But it's definitely "Pink Grootendorst". Thank you so much for that information!!
This clove-like rose is so sweet and we love it.
I'm so glad to have found your blog!

Today we have the first dry day, but it's quite stormy.

    Have a nice day!

  10. Such a bountiful harvest, I hope all you collect taste good! A lot of my roses get botrytis in the rain too, you just have to wait for the sun to come out :). I miss currants so much... do you grow gooseberries too?

    1. Masha, I'm very sorry your roses got botrytis! Sometimes mine have it after the winter, when the weather is wet and cold. I use copper sulfate and lime, that is called here "Bordeaux mixture". Do you have it?
My gooseberries bushes are very old and very young. So I haven't a big harvest of gooseberries, but the new bushes are the best variety, I hope to have more the next year! Thank you!
