GBBD in July

The time runs and we're in July, 15th and the Garden Blogger Bloom Day is now again. What is flowering in my Northern garden in the warmest month? My roses began to bloom, they have many buds and flowers. And they smell wonderfully!

 rose floribunda 'Pristine'

climbing rose 'Flammentanz'

 Canadian rose 'Therese Bugnet'

Canadian rose 'Martin Frobisher'

rose floribunda 'Golden showers'

The water got warm in my pond and the water lilies (nymphaea) have begun to open their buds. Three nymphaeas - two white and one red - decorate water surface.

Clematis is in bloom as well! Here is 'Cardinal' variety:

This is  the bush rose 'Blanc double de Coubret' : its strong fragrance feels in a distance!

The Grootendorst rose grows near the pond. I have 2 varieties of it: 'FJ Grootendorst' - the red one and "Pink Grootendorst' (third photo). These roses are very hardy. I love its carnation-style flowers.

rose Grootendorst

'Amber Velvet' floribunda rose

I've bought this rose named 'Amber Velvet' and I wanted to have amber color rose, but... it's deep red and beautiful! Who knows this rose? What the variety is?
I'm glad my garden is colorful and fragrant, I can enjoy every moment of the only warm season in my garden!  What is flowering in your garden now?Thank you!

    1. Thank you Jenny but I'm not such skilled: every spring I have some roses died of frost as I don't know how to better cover them for wintering.

  5. I've just bought a double white climbing rose - White Cloud - and need another maybe Blanc double de Coubret would be good. Is it diesease resistant and does it flower more than once?

    1. ´Blanc double de Coubert´ is very disease resistant, I have no problem with it at all. But it flowers once during 2 months. Although in UK climate it might bloom twice.

  7. You have some beautiful roses. I see that several of them are from Canada. That would make sense since we have similar climates.

    1. You're right Alain! I do not cover them for wintering, they have no thorns, they bloom all summer and smell well. Canadian roses completely suit to our climate.

  10. All your roses look wonderful, both in garden and in pond. In estonian, water lilies are called roses also, water roses! In my garden, it is high peak of summer alliums and phloxes are about to bloom any day now (first blooms are open already). I'm still witing for my bee and butterlfy magnets - coneflovers, liatrises and echinopses to bloom.

My phlox and cornflowers are not yet in bloom, sure your garden is colorful with blooming alliums. Have a nice day!

    1. Yes, the weather brings surprises this year, Marian. I fertilize roses and other plants for they survive and bloom. A lot of work in a garden. So we enjoy flowers!

    1. Yes. I have. It's a very big work, this pond. The water lilies need to be set down the pond bottom every autumn, to winter under the ice and in spring they have to be warmed in green house before they start to grow and bloom. Moreover the water gets dirty and I clean it every 2 weeks. Thank you for stopping by, Ash!

  17. Everything grows at the moment, it is a wilderness in my garden.

Your garden always looks tidy and your plants are in perfect condition. You must spend many hours working. Your roses are splendid.
I need to go out and do a lot of dead-heading, the first flush is over already and I need to make room for new blooms.

Enjoy the summer and enjoy the garden. Do you spend any time just looking and sitting or do you work all the time? That’s the danger for us gardeners. Sometimes the summer passes and I’ve not even looked properly!

    1. In July I spend some hours sitting near the pond or a trellis with clematis that make a shadow. I do knitting or crochet some things that I won't never use.But these hours give me peace and quietness in these unbelievable days.

  19. Oooh, ‘Pristine’ is a lovely rose, but I absolutely love water lilies. I haven’t got a pond – nowhere to put it in my tiny garden, so I have to admire water lilies on other people’s blog. Yours are lovely! Thanks for the tour in your lovely July garden :-)
