Yesterday
fishermen took me in his company at the river. This river is small,
at the widest point is about of 20 m and very close to our summer
house. We went on foot, it was nice to walk through the woods.
When we passed through it I liked the reedmace (or cattails) . I remember as a child I gathered a lot of reedmace and put in a vase at home. But after 2-3 days it has become to fade, its beautiful brown head began to pour white fluff. It was so much that became very dirty in the house. Since then, I've never gathered reed mace.
I liked the river. There were a lot of birds, even as I heard a beaver splashing in the water at that beach. But I couldn't take a picture, so he quickly dove into the water.
At
this
place
the river
divides
into
small
ducts
and
changes
its
stream. But
here was
the
unexpected encounter!
Right
at me,
the snake was
swimming
in
the water,
as if posing
for the
camera.
On the shore she quickly crept away through the grass into the bushes. I think it was a viper, it had stripes on the back and spots on the head. Generally I am afraid of snakes, but this appearance was so unexpected that I have no time to get scared.
From the other side of the river I found a small lake, it was very quiet. Trees and bushes were reflected in the calm water. Some water lilies, yellow, with large leaves were growing there.
The
sun came out and everything was nice. Then weather became cloudy, and
the rain was. I did not waste time and started taking
pictures.
There was a swamp near the river. The bog was big
enough, but dry, we walked along the path one after another.

were

return.
We
all
had a great

in the nature.
Beautiful nature pictures you show ...... also the Viper, but I'm like you, I do not like snakes. Wishing you a good Monday / good new week :) Hugs Hanne Bente
ReplyDeleteThe viper was very 'busy' and went away. Thank you, Hanne Bente!
DeleteDear Nadezda, you live in a beautiful place!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures!!!Wow!!You saw a snake!!I love the ferlection in the water!!Wonderful photos!!
Have a lovely new week!!!
Dimi...
Thank you, Dimi!
DeleteSuch a beautiful place to visit and to take a walk! The scenery actually looks much like a woods here at my home. What you call reed mace we call cattails. We used to see them everywhere, but they're not as common as they once were.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, the cattails grows in places where the clean water is and isn't any pollution.
DeleteThank you, Rose!
How beautiful! We just got back from a river boat holiday:) It was lovely!
ReplyDeleteI've read about your boat trip and was excited. Thank you, Sara!
DeleteHow green and serene and beautiful. There is something about being near water -- a lake, a pond, a river -- that is so calming and refreshing to us.
ReplyDeleteYes, there is something, I agree, Laurrie. I love to look at water, as at mirror.
DeleteThank you!
I feel serene just looking at your pictures Nadezda. Summer and fall are the perfect times for taking a walk and doing some fishing. I am not afraid of snakes either, but your close encounter would have had me a bit scared. Sadly beavers are rare to see here now. They were hunted almost to extinction. I would love to see one in the wild.
ReplyDeleteThe beavers are not rare to meet here but they are cautious when see people. This one didn't want to be photographed!
DeleteThank you, Jennifer!
Lovely landscapes, Nadezda! I'm terrified for snakes. One thing is sure, I wouldn't have stopped to take any pictures.. I would have run away and quickly! Happy week and gardening, Nadezda!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid of snake too! It was too fast to escape in grass, fortunately I took pictures and can look at it closely.
DeleteKiitos, Satu!
Great post Nadezda. Loved it when it started to rain, you didn't run for cover - you just started taking photos! We gardeners/photographers grab every photo op we can find! Lovely pictures - even I enjoyed the snake, and I am not a fan of snakes at all.
ReplyDeleteHa,ha, Astrid! You're right, I didn't want to stay under an umbrella or run away from a snake, I was taken pictures, and now I share them with you.Thank you!
DeleteLovely post Nadezda. I'm like you, always got my camera with me and will take a photo come rain or shine.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Sure! Thank you, Patricia!
DeleteBeautiful pictures. I like all the reflections. Just looking at the picture of the snake was scary enough!
ReplyDeleteTracey, I think a snake was afraid of people too!Thank you!
DeleteWelcome Nadezda!
ReplyDeleteI admire your wonderful pictures.
Loved forest, river, green ...
In such places, like the rest ...
Great for relaxing.
I send greetings.
lucia
Lucia, I've read your post and know you relaxed as well. Glad to spend summer days in quiet places.
DeleteThank you!
What a pretty place to visit and enjoy. I also home cattails years ago only to have them explode that white stuff. No more of course.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbors are going on a cruise which will stop in St. Petersburg, they are looking forward to seeing the beautiful old city.
I hope your neighbors spend nice time in my city!
DeleteThank you, Shirley!
In our country we call it reedsigars. When I was a child (a long time ago) we were acting if we were smoking. Terrible is it not. A wonderful place to be I think.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day Nadezda.
The kids play with reed mace till now here!
DeleteThank you, Marijke!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful place. I love cattails (we call them bullrushes) and am trying to grow some near my pond. I've never seen a snake swimming before, it was with keen eyes that you noticed it!
ReplyDeleteOh, Rosemary, this snake was posing before my camera, it swam fast! I was surprised as well.
DeleteThank you!
Gorgeous pictures of reflections in the river and lake! What a nice walk and a great day in nature. The viper looks scary!
ReplyDeleteYes, it does, Peter, it was enough long and thick. Thank you!
DeleteThe snake is indeed scary. I like the photo where the snake swims down the river, leaving spiral ripples in the waters behind it.
ReplyDeleteThe 'spiral drawing' as I've seen it. Thank you, Stiletto!
DeleteWhat a nice trip! I believe, you enjoy the wonderful nature in surroundig your summerhouse. Living in a city is hard in summertime.
ReplyDeleteThanks for georgous photos!
I agree with you, meggie! I like to sleep in silence in my summer house, not in noise of big city.
DeleteThank you!
Some very beautiful countryside, though I am surprised you have vipers in northern Russia. How far is this from St. Petersburg?
ReplyDeleteVipers are enough hardy and winter in the holes. The environment is good where this river runs. It's about 40 km from Saint Petersburg.
DeleteThank you, Jason!
DeleteGracias, Laura!
Lovely photos, honest and pure. I just want to be there, this very moment. Well, not immediately next to the snake, though :))
ReplyDeleteИ настроение, и ощущение места прекрасное от Ваших фотографий, Надежда! Рада была наткнуться на Ваш блог. Все что Питер - интересно по разным причинам, - и семейным, и садовым. Буду заходить!
Ольга,
hollandgardenvisit.com
Olga, thank you for stopping by! Glad you love gardening and Saint Petersburg!
DeleteI would love to jump into that water on a hot summer's day! I love the snake pictures!
ReplyDeleteOptimistic Existentialist, the day was hot but water was cool, +17 C! I don't swim in such water.
DeleteThank you!
Very pretty - well, all except that snake! Yikes! Thanks for the warning about cattails. I have never cut any for inside, but have often thought about doing that - now I know not to!
ReplyDeleteI never take cattails since that time, neither it in my garden. Thank you, Holley!
DeleteBeautiful photos. One time I did the same thing with cattails. One time! After dealing with all the white mess, I said, never again. They are cool though, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteYes, they are, but in a bog! Thank you, Grace!
